Garden project East Harptree

I have managed this compact family garden in East Harptree since 2024. The garden was fully established with plenty of trees, shrubs and perennials, along with a small orchard and vegetable area.

My brief is to make the garden child friendly and to introduce more plants for pollinators, with soft pastels and scented perennials.

Along with introducing a wild meadow, Hugelkulture and dead hedge.

This is an ongoing project and we allow the garden to grow with the family and for them to have memorable moments along the way.

‘‘We moved into a house with a very well kept and very plant-heavy garden, and after a year or two it was clear we needed help from someone who would be able to advise us on the most climate and wildlife friendly, low-disturbance and minimal waste way of turning the space into something our whole family, as well as the plants and animals around us, would love. We didn't want to rip anything out, we wanted to re-use and adjust. We wanted the many plants to stay in the garden, but they needed careful moving and editing. We also wanted a garden that was low-maintenance and needed very little watering. Mark has stepped up to the task beautifully, introducing dead hedges, a hügelkultur, new planting areas and always re-using any garden waste or materials. Thanks to him, we're well on our way to making our garden the self sufficient, low-maintenance, organic, wildlife-packed haven that we desire’’
